We are nearly there!

In September of last year, we agreed with the Wellington Hospital’s Foundation that our Rotary District would support the development of the Wellington Regional Children’s Hospital by raising $400k to outfit the 2 Whanau rooms; one on each of the 2 inpatient wards.

I am delighted to report that now some 8 months later we are only $71k from that target. We are aware that some clubs are still in the process of raising funds and this is very much appreciated. I am sure that we will reach our goal within the next couple of months, and the two Rotary Whanau rooms will become a reality.

This does not need to be the end. The importance of Children’s health not just in our own area but across the whole Rotary Oceania region and further afield is in our minds and an important area of concern for Rotary as a whole. Fighting disease, improving health, saving mothers and children, improving education and economies are all impacted as we provide a trust for activities and specialist equipment relating to paediatrics and children’s health.

Contributing to the new Children’s Hospital which will be a an important part of the New Zealand wide specialist children’s hospitals is just the beginning.
